Inspired by the Victorian obsession with collecting, categorising and displaying insects of all shape and size, tucked into curio cabinets or displayed proudly in entomological collections. These glowing beetles are fashioned from shimmering bronze acrylic, centred on a field of bright gold and crimson mirror.
NOTE: because these are mirrors, the reflective surface is challenging to photograph. Any texture in the photos is due to the background REFLECTED in the mirror when photographed and does not exist in the actual acrylic.
METAMORPHOSIS is a process of change, growth, rebirth - a mysterious transformation, where the unknown becomes known, and the impossible becomes possible, an insect hatching, new life emerging from old. The collection embraces and celebrates this change - both deeply personal and life affirming. An exploration of new techniques, and old loves, combined into an eclectic collection of creative curiosities.
This striking objet d’art measures approximately 18cm diameter and can be hung on a nail or low-profile hook via the keyhole opening in the back. If you are renting (or don't like putting holes in your wall), 3M velcro or tape works perfectly to hang these beauties!
PLEASE NOTE: all of our works are entirely hand crafted, and the colours as captured may vary from screen-to-screen. We've done our best to accurately represent them, but note they may be a tiny bit different from what you see on your screen. This mirror also includes some acrylic that is marbled, and therefore each one will be totally unique.
